Accessories for Harley-Davidson Motorcycles
Published in Hardcover by David Bull Publishing (November, 1998)
Author: Marc Cook

Can't leave it Alone!
Harley riders develope a passion for the bikes. Maybe it has something to do with a safe vent for midlife crisis. If you are looking for a Harley novel read "The Second Coming Of Age" by: C. Vedrine

Much more than the title suggests...
While the title suggests a listing of parts you can buy for your Harley, the book actually covers "What you can do to your Harley". The sub-title says it better: "A Guide to Personalizing Your Bike". The book is loaded with fabulous photos (and diagrams, where needed, like where they tell you about the real meaning of dyno numbers). I read every single page with great care and attention, and I know I will do so again.

The table of contents clues you in right away about what awaits you inside: Paint, Seats, Handlebars and Foot Controls, Powertrain, Suspension, Wheels and brakes. The subtitles in each section go much further. Installing inspection covers, re-jetting the carb, how to lower your bike (and why you may not want to), practical advice on changing handlebars, choosing an exhaust system, and setting up your suspension are just a taste of what you'll be getting into in here.

If you're wondering what are the possibilities for modifying your Harley-Davidson, here's the place to start.

An American Treasury of Heirloom Fruitcakes and Puddings: Cherished Recipes from Yesterday's Great Cooks

What a Wonderful Christmas Gift
I recieved An American Treasury of Heirloom Fruitcakes and Puddings from my mother-in-law on Christmas 1998. What a wonderful gift, it has so many reciepts that my grandmother would fix for us. When she passed the reciepts were never writen down. What a treasury for me to have recieved this cookbook, it has so many of the reciepts my grandmother would make and more. I would truly recommend this to anyone that loves good food. I asked my mother-in-law where she found this cookbook. She showed me a review that was written in our Illinois paper. Now I have found it here, how wonderful it will be to keep track of any new books Frances E. Hanson will write.

A wonderful collection of fruitcake recipes and history!
If you like fruitcakes or collect heritage recipes you will love this book. It has a great variety of fruitcake recipes plus some of the history of the origins of fruitcake. The book also contains pudding recipes and their history. A great gift idea!

You will enjoy this cookbook!
Having met Elizabeth Coblentz a number of years ago, I was thrilled to buy a copy of her book. There are terrific photos and the recipes are fabulous. Would make a great permanent addition to anyones cookbook collection!

Anne Willan's Cook It Right: Achieve Perfection With Every Dish You Cook
Published in Hardcover by Reader's Digest Adult (April, 1998)
Authors: Anne Willan and Peter Williams

Good gift for a new cook...or old cook..
I used to cook a lot, but got away from it for many years -- eating out in restaurants while I pursued a career. I read an article about Anne Willan in our local paper, and had to try one of her books. I'm not ready to make the fancy French dishes (although I would like to eat them) so I decided to buy a simple book and practice the basics again.

Ms. Willan explains many basic recipes in this volume. This is a nice cook book to give a new cook, or it might be a housewarming or bridal gift. I gave it to myself. I especially like the photos that show how things should look. There are photos of how things shouldn't look too, with explanations about why you got the results you did. I recommend this book if you're beginning for the first time, or beginning again.

cooking school in a book
This book is unique in that the pictures show different states of properly cooked, under or over cooked foods. Also gives tips how to salvage any mistakes that have been made. I have been cooking for years, and learned alot just from flipping through the pages.

The Arrowhead Incident
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (12 January, 2001)
Author: John L. Cook
Average review score:

As Real As it Gets
If you were not a part of Desert Storm, then there is a tendency to look down on you. However, those of us who are veterans of Desert Storm should cut John Cook a little shack. His war was Vietnam. Yet, he captures the mood of went on there in a most emotional manner. Fratricide has always been a part of the American military. However, the American pulic does not understand this. Good job, John Cook. Keep up the good work.

Best I've Seen on Desert Storm
Finally, someone has written a story on Desert Storm that isn't saddled with all the emotional baggage concerning Gulf War illness. The Arrowhead Incident is a fast-paced story that holds the reader's attention from the very opening scene to the final chapter. John Cook has done an excellent job and has told a most plausable story that is probably very close to the mark when it comes to the incredible influence defense contractors have over weapon systems. Recommend highly. You will enjoy it.

Assistive Technologies: Principles and Practice
Published in Hardcover by Mosby (October, 1994)
Authors: Albert M. Cook and Susan M. Hussey
Average review score:

Super Book
This is one of the best books on Assistive Technology that I have read. Sue Hussey establishes herself as the leader of this field. The whole world wonders what will she write next? The illustrations, apparently done by her talented brother, are also incredible.

This book is more than a Bible for who is in the field.
Very good for Occupational Therapists and Physical Therapists. Excellent for rehabilitation engineers. A very good guide for those who wish to start an AssistiveTechnology Service in rehabilitation.

Battle of the Books and More: Reading Activities for Middle School Students
Published in Paperback by Highsmith Press (March, 2001)
Authors: Frances Corcoran, Beverley Fonnesbeck, and Sybilla Avery Cook

Teaching reading
As a reading specialist and veteran junior high teacher I highly recommend Sybilla Cook's book to both teachers in conventional classrooms and those as simple as the teacher on one end of a log and the student on the other. One of the most difficult problems in teaching reading, especially for home schoolers, is finding appropriate material that will interest students of this age level. Ms. Cook has made that easy. But she has gone way beyond that by including questions and activities to teach critical, analytical, and interpretative reading and thinking, not to mention the most basic of reading skills, comprehension. This book belongs in every teacher's professional library.

For parochial school and home-teaching support groups
Educators and library media specialists Sybilla Cook, Frances Corcoran, and Beverly Fonnesbeck effectively collaborate in Battle Of The Books And More: Reading Activities For Middle School Students to create a comprehensive guide to planning and implementing successful reading competitions for the purpose of motivating children in grades 5 to 8 to read a variety of books, both popular and classic. Also included are compilations of useful websites offering supplementary information about the books and authors; techniques for increasing participation in the competitions; suggestions on how to correlate the contests with music and art; advice on student recognition; cooperative programming between school and public libraries; publicizing the contests; and the effective use of volunteers and parents. Battle Of The Books And More is also a very highly recommended reference and guide for parochial school and home-teaching support groups.

The Best of Amish Cooking : Traditional and Contemporary Recipes Adaped from the Kitchens and Pantries of Old Order Amish Cooks
Published in Paperback by Good Books (May, 1996)
Author: Phyllis Pellman Good

The Best Cook Book in My Kitchen
I love this cook book! It's just full of recipes for that wonderful Amish food, and the thing I really love about it is that for the most part, the ingredients are items you probably already have in your kitchen, as opposed to some of the "coffee table" cookbooks you have to travel to France in order to get the ingredients they call for. I wouldn't be without this one, and I've just finished ordering it as a gift. Get this one, you'll love it.

Wonderful accurate cook book with good stories
My neighbor has cooked with some of these recipes for years (she is 76). She was so happy to find these recipes written so that she can give them to her daughter, grand daughters and great grand daughters. The author is an excellant authority on Amish cooking.

Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book

The best standard reference cookbook out there
This was the first cook book I owned, and was given to me when I was 10. I used the quick and easy recipes learning to cook, and it is still my favorite place to look, the easiest place to find standard good home cooking recipes. It has a superb listing of basic necessities, and several very nice "playing in the kitchen all day" recipes - like moussaka/pastitsio, spiced slices cookies, candy window cut-out cookies, and many more. I recommed this to cooks of all ages, whether they like to cook or not.

Essential Cookbook for any Cook's Library
I borrowed this cookbook from my Dad 6 years ago, for a doughnut recipe. I haven't yet returned it because I use it each & every week for something! This is the best basic cookbook in or out of print. The chicken enchilada recipe--better than any restaurant--in this edition is NOT in any of the new editions, nor by search on the BHG website. Classic recipes--chicken pot pie, homemade mac & cheese (better than Martha's), pictorial instructions for pie crust techniques, and super-yummy caramel corn.
